Cheryl Eiler, Au.D.
Career Path
I chose the audiology profession because I wanted to make a positive impact on people’s lives. I have been able to do this through participation in hearing research, which has resulted in improved hearing aid technology for the multiple listening needs of people who wear them. In my clinical work, I have been able to connect with people, and to help find solutions for their hearing, tinnitus, and communication problems.
Degrees:
Doctor of Audiology Salus Uinversity, Elkins Park, PA
Master of Arts if Audiology University of Maryland at College Park, MD
Bachelor of Science in Education University of Wisconsin at Madison, WI
Rewards:
My greatest reward is seeing my patient’s lives positively changed after hearing rehabilitation. I still remember the joy of the man describing how he heard the ocean waves crashing for the first time in years, or the tears of the woman thrilled at being able to communicate successfully with family and friends.
Publications and Presentations
I have a variety of publications in peer-reviewed and audiology trade journals through seven years of conducting hearing aid research. I have been a guest lecturer at the University of Maryland, as well as a presenter at audiology conferences, senior centers, and the Hearing Loss Association of America.
What I Offer My Patients:
I believe that hearing aids are only a part of hearing rehabilitation and that education and learning new communication strategies are an important part of improving hearing and communication. My background in education, training, research, and clinical work has provided me with a holistic approach to hearing rehabilitation. My goal is to improve each patient’s quality of life by re-connecting them with the people and sounds in the world around them.
